The Italian word avviso can be translated by several words in English, but usually not advice! Advice is usually translated as consiglio or consigli, and is what we give when we tell someone what we think they should do or not do in a certain situation. For example:
✓ I think that’s good advice.
✗ I think that’s *a good advice*.
Penso che sia un buon consiglio.
✓ Take my advice and stay away from him!
Prendi il mio consiglio e sta’ lontano da lui!
