advice ≠ avviso
advice = consiglio
avviso = announcement, note, notice, notification, warning ...
Wise men don't need advice. Fools won't take it.
I saggi non hanno bisogno di consigli. Gli idioti si rifiutano di accettarli.

✓ We've put a notice on the garage door asking people not to park in front of it.
✗ We've put *an advice* on the garage door asking people not to park in front of it.

The Italian word avviso can be translated by several words in English, but usually not advice! Advice is usually translated as consiglio or consigli, and is what we give when we tell someone what we think they should do or not do in a certain situation. For example:
✓ I think that's good advice.
✗ I think that's *a good advice*.
Penso che sia un buon consiglio.
✓ Take my advice and stay away from him!
Prendi il mio consiglio e sta' lontano da lui!
Here are some examples of the various ways we can translate avviso:
✓ I received a security notification from my bank.
Ho ricevuto un avviso di sicurezza dalla mia banca.
✓ I think we should put up a notice in a place where everyone will see it.
Penso che dovremmo appendere un avviso in un posto dove lo vedranno tutti.
✓ The museum is closed until further notice.
