There are no hard distinctions between what is real and what is unreal, nor between what is true and what is false. A thing is not necessarily either true or false; it can be both true and false.

The adjectives real and true have a similar meaning, and sometimes we can use either. For example:
✓ It’s a real/true honour to meet you.

If something such as a story or news is true, it is based on facts, not imagination or lies.
If something is real, it actually exists.
